During the upcoming 43rd edition of the Wizz Air Sofia Marathon on October 10–11, 2026, we are committed to reducing the use of single-use plastic products. Our goal is to minimize waste and promote sustainable practices that protect the environment.

To achieve this, we will implement specific measures, including the use of paper cups for water at all aid stations, filled with mineral water. This way we not only reduce plastic, but also prevent the disposal of almost full 500 ml bottles after just one or two sips – a problem that in the past led to significant water waste.

This is a step toward a healthier environment for athletes, spectators, and all citizens. We believe that sport and environmental responsibility go hand in hand, and together we can make a real difference.

We also encourage participants to join these efforts by coming to the start by public transport, reducing their own use of single-use plastics, and disposing of waste in designated recycling bins. Thank you!
