On February 10 at exactly 10:00 a.m., registration officially opened for the Wizz Air Sofia Marathon 2026. Following the record-breaking interest in the previous edition, registration this year starts earlier, with increased participant quotas and a new feature that allows runners to track in real time how many places remain available for each distance.

Participants can choose between the 5 km FIB Mass Run and the 10 km Run, which will take place on October 10 (Saturday), as well as the Address Run Half Marathon (21 km) and the classic marathon (42 km), both scheduled for October 11 (Sunday). In 2026, Bulgaria’s largest running event will once again be held over two consecutive days, turning Sofia into a focal point for running and active lifestyles.

Last year’s 42nd edition of the Sofia Marathon set a new participation record, with more than 8,000 starters across all distances—almost 1,000 more than the previous year. The figures show 1,500 participants in the 5 km race, 2,800 in the 10 km, 2,700 in the half marathon, and 1,000 runners in the classic 42.195 km marathon. International participation was also impressive, with 1,308 runners from 66 countries, alongside 66 companies taking part through corporate registrations. These results clearly point to a growing interest in the event, and an even higher level of participation and international presence is expected in 2026.

Registration for the Wizz Air Sofia Marathon 2026 opens with early bird, reduced prices, available until April 30, 2026. Please note that once the quota of available places for a given distance is filled, registration for that distance will be closed.
