Join us on 11 July at 9:00 AM at 5kmrun South Park for the chance to meet one of Bulgaria’s most accomplished distance runners and the Sports Director of Wizz Air Sofia Marathon – Militsa Mircheva.
After the traditional 5 km run, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in an open Q&A session with Militsa. This is your chance to ask anything you’ve ever wanted to know about training, race preparation, recovery, long-distance running and, of course, Wizz Air Sofia Marathon 2026.
Militsa Mircheva is one of the biggest names in Bulgarian athletics. She was the first Bulgarian woman to compete in the Olympic marathon, is a multiple-time national champion and holds Bulgarian national records in the U20 5,000 m, indoor 5,000 m, 10,000 m, 10 km road race, half marathon and marathon.
Her name is also closely connected with Wizz Air Sofia Marathon. In 2021, Militsa completed the classic marathon distance in an impressive 2:35:03, finishing just one second shy of the Bulgarian national marathon record at the time. Only a few months later, she broke that record by more than five minutes, cementing her place among Bulgaria’s greatest marathon runners.
Her latest achievement is equally remarkable – winning the women’s half marathon at the Bucharest Marathon with an outstanding time of 1:15:11.
In addition to her successful athletic career, Militsa serves as the Sports Director of Wizz Air Sofia Marathon. She brings not only elite racing experience but also valuable expertise to the organisation of Bulgaria’s largest road running event.
We’ve also prepared some fantastic prizes from our partners for the participants:
We look forward to seeing you on 11 July at 9:00 AM at 5kmrun South Park. Whether you’re already preparing for Wizz Air Sofia Marathon 2026 or just taking your first steps into running, this is a great opportunity to gain knowledge and inspiration from one of Bulgaria’s finest athletes.
